The Best Chocolate Experience You Will Ever Have

It all started with my dear friends 18th birthday…

A birthday cake would be the ultimate gift - it does not cost much, everyone enjoys it and it is fun to make! But for the 18th birthday it should be something special. Perhaps this wonderful Moist Chocolate One Bowl Cake?

Lick My Spoon - Moist Chocolate Cake- One Bowl Cake

I tried it out, and boy was it moist! Unfortunately mine was not as pretty as the one above since I modified the frosting to make it less American*. But, nevertheless, everyone enjoyed it!

Madelene and the cake

Excellent!
But there was still room for improvement.

So, tired of pink frosting, the next birthday, I decreased the amount of layers from 5 to 3, changed the filling to an espresso buttercream and glazed it with a chocolate ganache. WOW.

The Best Chocolate Experience You Will Ever Have

This is the best birthday cake I ever created. No doubts! Moist, rich and chocolatey, and the slight bitterness of espresso, brilliantly combined with the sweet syrup. It could not be better! Well, that was what I though before I had a piece straight out of the fridge the next day. It really ripened during the cool night.

I could not get enough of this magnificent cake but, sadly, I do not have an excuse to bake cakes every single day. So the next step was to make it less exclusive and more of a every day snack = cup cakes!Espresso buttercream filled chocolate cupcakes

This was not too hard, I just poured the batter in muffin cups, increased the temperature to200°C and baked them until dry (approximately 10 minutes). Then, when they had cooled down, I used my pastry bag to fill the cupcakes with the same buttercream and finally, covered the little hole with ganache.

Not as awesome as the cake, but very good! All though I had to eat like six of them to get a cake-size feeling…

And that is the pleasant end of this chocolate delight!

*American frostings tend to be very sweet for the Swedish tastes.

Renovation!

As you all know, I don’t actually have time for blogs because I spend all my time doing school stuff. (Or do I?) So why not combine the two?

One part of the IB calls for some creativity, i.e., in my case, baking. I will therefore convert this otherwise useless blog into a food-blog!

Stay tuned for the first recipe, probably something sweet and delicious…
